Having faith can sometimes be a struggle. Have you ever believed your faith was strong only to discover it wasn’t where you thought it was? We believe God for a miracle, we believe him to bring about a change in our life. We believe it is going to happen, it has been ordained, however, we get anxious because what we are believing him for hasn’t come to pass yet. The scripture says, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God (Philippians 4:6).” However, sometimes we get tired in our situation because we want it to change today.
I know; I have been in this situation. There were times when I became upset with God because Satan wanted me to believe that God wasn’t doing enough. He wanted me to believe that God wasn’t moving fast enough. I knew this was not true but I was frustrated. God always does what he says he is going to do. It is we who miss the mark; we have to be in the right position to receive from God. It was during those times that God showed me I must allow the process. I must allow him to work whatever he was working in me and in others. I must trust that he knows what he is doing and trust that what I was waiting for would come to pass.
Some of you are in similar situations, you are waiting on God. He wants you to know that if he has promised, he will bring it to pass. His word cannot fail. WE MUST TRUST HIM, be at peace (because real peace only comes from him) and let him work it. I will praise God in this storm.
One day about two years ago God gave me a revelation about faith. My daughter who is a school teacher was making homemade baked beans to take to work because it was the last day of school. She put everything together and then she put them in the oven to cook. She then went into the next room to work on her discussion questions for the classes she was taking to earn her Master’s degree. Later I checked on the beans to see if they were ready and I called her but she didn’t answer. When I checked on her she had fallen asleep, she was so tired after working all day.
This is what God showed me. A demonstration of Faith
My daughter was able to sleep because she was not worried, she had the assurance that me, her mother would take care of everything. She had the assurance that I would not let the baked beans burn, she had the assurance that I would take care of whatever needed to be done. She knew that I would clean up the kitchen and put away the dishes. How did she know this? She was confident in this knowledge because of her past experiences with me; she knew that I was faithful.
This is what God is saying about FAITH. He is a GOOD FATHER and we can trust him; we can rest and be at peace in the knowledge that whatever we are going through, whatever our current circumstances are, whatever prayers we have before him, we can know that he is faithful and that he will handle every situation.
Jesus had this confidence in the Father; this is why he was able to sleep when the storm was raging all around them. He had a relationship with his Father and for us to have this confidence we also must have a relationship with God. Jesus said if we abide in him and his words abide in us we can ask what we will and it will be given unto us. St. John 15: 7. He also said if we seek the kingdom of God and his righteousness he will supply all of our needs. Matthew 6:33.
Just as my daughter was able to rest and fall asleep, I am also able to trust in my heavenly Father because I know that he is faithful. Praise God for his faithfulness.
